As do I.<\/p>\n<p>They scatter, like so many pins.<br \/>\nStruck by instinct, reflex, flock-think,<br \/>\nsheltering (in vain) in Winter naked Bittersweet;<br \/>\ndried and withered fruit, rust and rotting,<br \/>\nall that remains of Summer&#8217;s sanctuary.<\/p>\n<p>Movement becomes my friend.<br \/>\nThey twitch and flutter back, reassured by numbers, easy grain;<br \/>\nlight&#8217;s trick, sun&#8217;s flicker gone now from consciousness.<br \/>\nBut what&#8217;s to see? Sharp, gold-rimmed eye<br \/>\n&#8212; if they&#8217;d dare look up. I wink (back) and watch.<\/p>\n<p>Sun curtained, I hunch, arch, and slide, chute straight.<br \/>\nTethered by taut focus to a single one,<br \/>\nchosen to receive my freeing gift.<br \/>\nAwareness, short-lived, explodes.<br \/>\nAnd all is still &#8212; again.<\/p>\n<p>Do you judge?
